My wild camping kit bag and my day bag doesn’t differ much. I believe that when you’re out in the mountains you should be prepared. This means having a shelter with you at all times, a first aid kit and essential supplies. Below is a list of everything I take out in my day bag, wild camping bag and my winter wild camping kit. I’ve included links to all items (at the best price) so you can buy anything you need to add to your bag.
Wild Camping Kit
When I’m in the mountains, regarding the weight of my kit, I live by the mantra – Further, Faster, For Longer. Having a light as possible rucksack means that you can hike longer distances, do it in less time and you can do what you love for longer.
Back in the day, I actually carried 15kg at one stage, when I started wild camping in the Lake District. Eventually, I invested about £500 on all new kit, I’d already tried out half a dozen tents, a few sleeping bags, six stoves and four ruck sacks.
My complete wild camping kit is now under 5kg!

I’m very happy with the shelters I use in different situations. My choice of sleeping bag, the two stoves I switch between and the mattress are perfect. If you want to cut out the trialling stage and go straight to the ideal wild camping kit for you then I think you’ll find some perfect kit for you here.
